Jimena Tuis, M.D., is double board-certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, providing evidence-based treatments with medication management and therapy.

Dr. Tuis has over ten years of experience in psychiatry, with expertise in anxiety and depressive disorders. She provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing traumatic stress, life transitions, grief, family stress, and illness. Dr. Tuis also addresses concerns related to eating disorders, body image, gender, and sexuality development. Additionally, she specializes in the assessment and management of attention deficit disorders and school-related challenges, including academic performance. Dr. Tuis works closely with schools, peers, and families to support her patients’ well-being and success.

When Dr. Tuis is not in the office, she is a devoted mother and wife who enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and her dog, Archie. She loves being in nature, practicing photography, and has a lifelong commitment to meditation and Buddhist practice.

History

Dr.Tuis began her medical studies at the Università Degli Studi in Udine, Italy. She completed her Medical Degree from Universidad Anahuac, Mexico, in 2008. She then completed a visiting fellowship in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy at Weill Cornell Medical College.  Dr. Tuis did her Psychiatry Residency Program at Baystate Medical Center, Tufts University Program. During residency, she was granted the Educational Outreach Program Award for General Psychiatry Residents by the American Academy of Psychiatry. Afterwards, she sub-specialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center. She was awarded the Yale Melvin Lewis Award for her commitment to excellence in medical student education.  Since graduation in 2015, Dr. Tuis has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale Child Study Center. She also serves as an inpatient psychiatrist at the Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital.
